Israel's Reluctance to Serve and Obey God!
Question: In Jeremiah 13:1-14, was Jeremiah being instructed to create a pair of dirty under clothes?
No; only in the sense that he would see the result of its contact with Israel’s sin (hence the reason for the Babylonian captivity), because of their idolatry, disobedience, etc., instead of being God’s agents and dedicated servants to witness to “the one true God”. Instead, they became wanton, Idolatrous, disobedient, and unfaithful to God, and their “Given Word” to Him!
They remained that way despite the Pharisaic Religious System which they were eventually Ruled by, and which still prevails under the heading “orthodoxy”.
They were given a second chance on the arrival of the Baby Jesus, which is clearly prophesied in the Old Testament; but by the stage of Acts 28:25–28, approx. 30 years after the death Sacrifice of Jesus, Paul was moved by the Holy Spirit to pronounce the prophecy of Isa. 6:9–10; which is detailed in Hos.1&2; this was to avoid delay and obstruction by the Sanhedrin of God’s Salvation “Good News” to the world!
The major reason they would not accept Jesus as their Messiah, is because of the interpretations of the prophecies in the Old Testament by their ancient Rabbis’, who would not accept that the awaited Messiah would be Divine!
As by the end of Acts, it was clear that the Jews were again rejecting Jehovah s’ offering and Words, He cut them short as His Servants for the spreading of His Word of Salvation to all mankind, and set them to one side for the duration of His Timing regarding “the filling full” of Rom.11:25–27, and His promised salvation of Israel, Rom. 9:25–26!
That stage will be reached when Zech.12:10 is current; which with the world events now prominent may not be too far away! Those of the Jews who will still not accept “He who was pierced for them and all mankind”, will be dealt with immediately by the Lord Jesus, who is to rule the world “in power and great Glory” for 1000 years! (Isa. 9:6&7) & (Isa.11).
Israel’s’ “rebuke” will be removed from the world, and they will become a “kingdom of priests” for God/Jesus operating out of Jerusalem Exod. 19:6 & Rev.1.
